Red Fox and European Deer

Red Fox

• Shoulder height up to 50 cm
• Body length without tail up to 90 cm
• Speed up to 50 km/h
• Lifespan in the wild: 2-5 years
• A fox’s den can be up to 17 meters long and usually has two entrances/exits
• A fox hunts up to 4000 mice per year
• Thanks to its omnivorous nature, up to 30 foxes can live per square kilometer
• It can jump up to 4 meters
• The heaviest fox weighs 25 kg – it is made of bronze and is named Bystrouška 🙂

European Deer

• Shoulder height up to 150 cm
• Body length up to 240 cm
• Weight: 100-350 kg
• Short-term speed up to 78 km/h
• Antlers grow at a rate of up to 2 cm per day
• The deer sheds its antlers every year in February – March, new ones grow from April – August, and are largest from September – February
• The largest antlers in the Czech Republic belonged to a 24-pointer and weighed 17 kg
