Skywalk (Glass Walkway)

  • The longest single-arm cantilevered glass skywalk without steel railings in Europe
  • The glass weighs 839 kg
  • The glass section measures 2,500 × 1,600 mm
  • Glass floor and glass railing made from ultra-clear “diamond” type glass
  • The floor is made of three layers of 12 mm laminated safety glass
  • The railing consists of two layers of 12 mm heat-tempered laminated safety glass
  • The total amount of uncut glass is 30.3 m²
  • 7 meters of overhang and 30 meters above the ground
  • The glass was lifted to a height of 30 meters by crane onto the accessible part of the observation tower floor
  • The glass was carried manually to the walkway itself
  • The glass installation, including securing the mounts to the prepared structure, was completed by 8 workers in 8 hours, including preparation
  • The final glass installation on-site took 4 hours
  • 2 climbers assisted with installing the glass on the outer part of the walkway
  • The deflection limit for the railing is 15 mm at the top edge
  • Ideally, the walkway can hold up to ten people 🙂
  • Did you know that jumping on the skywalk is not recommended? 🙂
  • Did you know that if you jump and the glass breaks, you’ll fall just as fast as your mobile phone? 🙂
  • And at the bottom, a crab awaits you (a playful joke in Czech — “rak” can mean both “crab” and “cancer”) 🙂
