Stezka Valaška Beskydy Pustevny

What happened at Pustevny?

  • The first ski jump was built in this famous mountain resort thanks to the efforts of the Pohorská jednota Radhošť in 1927 near the Tanečnica hotel, with a take-off from the forest
  • During the First Republic, Norwegian jumper Andersen set a record of 45 meters on it
  • Olympic champion Jiří Raška, along with Zbyněk Hubač, Pavel Ploc, Láďa Dluhoš, Franta Jež, Jirka Parma, Jarda Sakala, and Jakub Janda, all jumped here
  • The steel structure of the Pustevny sports complex was permanently dismantled in autumn 2013
  • In June 1928, during his visit to the Valašsko region, the first Czechoslovak president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, spent the night at the Tanečnica hotel
  • On the night of March 2nd to 3rd, 2014, the historic building Libušín burned down, with more than 70 firefighters involved in the rescue efforts
  • During the reconstruction, approximately 350 cubic meters of wood were needed just for the rough structure of Libušín
  • Carpenters processed the beams using traditional hand methods
  • For shaping the beams for Libušín, carpenters used two types of axes. The first is called “hlavátka” — it rough-shapes the beam. The second, “širočina,” finishes the beam into a smooth, final form
  • In one day, they managed to process about one log, six meters long
