Wild Boar and Mouflon

Wild Boar

• Height up to 120 cm
• Length without tail 90-200 cm
• The heaviest hunted boar weighed nearly 300 kg
• Speed up to 50 km/h and swims well
• At the beginning of the 20th century, boars were almost extinct in the forests
• However, in 2017, 230,000 boars were culled in the forests
• Boar tusks can grow up to 30 cm
• Lower tusks are called “páráky” (cutters) and upper ones “klektáky” (grinders)

Mouflon

• Height at withers up to 80 cm
• Length 100-125 cm
• Weight up to over 50 kg
• Czechia is a world leader in breeding mouflons
• An adult male can even challenge a deer
• Males often suffer concussions during fights
• Their horns are called “toulce” and grow up to 80 cm
• The female is called “muflonka” and the young “muflonče”
